Iga Natalia Świątek is a Polish professional tennis player. Currently ranked world No. 9 in women's singles by the WTA, she has held the world No. 1 ranking for a total of 125 weeks, seventh-most of all-time. Świątek has won 26 WTA Tour–level singles titles, including six major titles: four at the French Open, one at Wimbledon, and one at the US Open. She has also won the 2023 WTA Finals and twelve WTA 1000 events. Świątek is the first Pole to win a major singles title.

Early life

Early life and background Świątek was born on 31 May 2001 in Warsaw to Dorota and Tomasz Świątek . Her father is a former rower who competed in the men's quadruple sculls event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics , [ 1 ] while her mother is an orthodontist . She has a sister, Agata, who is about three years older and is a dentist. [ 2 ]

Professional 2016–2018: Seven ITF Circuit championships Świątek at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics Świątek began competing on the ITF Women's Circuit in 2016 and played on the circuit through the end of 2018. She won all seven ITF singles finals she reached, ranging from the first four at the $10k to $15k level to one at the $25k level followed up by two at the $60k level. Her first three titles came at 15 years old. [ 1 ]
