How it is calculated
- The tool uses the common tropical date ranges, for example Virgo from 23 August to 22 September.
- Only the month and day matter. The year changes the exact moment the sun crosses between signs, which is why boundary dates are flagged as a cusp.
- Elements group the signs in fours (fire, earth, air, water) and modalities in threes (cardinal, fixed, mutable); every sign is one of each.
- Ruling planets are given in the modern form, with the traditional ruler noted where the two differ.

Good to know
- Astrology is a tradition, not a science. Nothing here predicts events or personality.
- Sign boundaries move by up to a day between years because the tropical year is not a whole number of days. If you were born within a day of a boundary, check an ephemeris for your birth time.
- Sidereal astrology, used in Vedic traditions, shifts the signs by roughly 24 degrees, so it gives a different answer for the same date.
