How it is calculated
- Today’s date is taken from this site’s time zone, then both dates are turned into a day count and subtracted.
- The weeks-and-days figure is the whole-week quotient and the remainder, so 45 days reads as six weeks and three days.
- The next anniversary is the next time that month and day comes round, which is this year if it has not happened yet and next year if it has.
- 29 February anniversaries fall back to 28 February in common years, and the tool says so.

How many days until Christmas?
Set the date to 25 December of the current year. If Christmas has passed, the tool shows the next anniversary date and the days to it.
Does the countdown update automatically?
It is calculated when the page loads. Refresh the page the next day and the number will have dropped by one.
Can I count down to a date many years away?
Yes. Any date up to the year 3000 works, and leap years are included in the count.
