Hoshi was born Kwon Soon-young in South Korea. He trained under Pledis Entertainment before debuting as a performer.

Hoshi debuted with Seventeen in 2015 as a vocalist and dancer. He is known for his energetic performances and has contributed to the group's choreography and creative direction.
