Early life
Hauer was born September 23, 1944, in Breukelen, Netherlands. He studied at the National Theatre School in Amsterdam before beginning his career in Dutch theatre and television.
Path and career
Hauer began his career in Dutch theatre and television in the 1960s before transitioning to film. He gained international recognition after starring in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, playing the replicant Roy Batty.
He became a prolific actor across multiple genres, appearing in horror, action, and drama films throughout the 1980s and beyond. Hauer also directed and produced films, and remained active in cinema until his death at age 75.
